COMPETENCY: This project demonstrates my ability to develop instructional materials using a variety of media and using technology tools in the design process.

CONTEXT: This interactive Modern Language Association eBook was created in Spring 2019 for Dr. Yasin Yalcin's EME5077 Mobile Learning course at Florida State University. This was an individual class project to create an interactive eBook.

CONDITIONS: I created this project on my own. I developed and compiled the resources of my own volition. I embedded YouTube videos on MLA Citations, and created my own interactive assessments / instructional units. I designed the table of contents, collected the imagery, and selected the music on my own. This project was completed without a budget. Though a small investment of $10 is required to keep it accessible. A larger fee is needed to remove the Flip PDF Professional. I gave appropriate credit where due to copyrighted materials.

SCOPE: This eBook was created for private usage. I would like to adapt something like this for an educational institution, but need buy-in and budgetary resources to make it more shareable. If I were also to make it more publicly shared, I would want to get written permissions of the copyright owners of the videos, or else replace with other ones, or develop my own.

ROLE: I worked as a designer and developer on this project independently.

MLA Interactive Lesson Plan

Fall 2018

DESIGN SKILLS

COMPETENCY: This project demonstrates my ability to design a curriculum and align outcomes and assessments, design and develop formative and summative evaluation plans and conduct a formative evaluation of an instructional intervention.

CONTEXT: This interactive Modern Language Association lesson plan was created in Fall 2018 for Dr. Fengfeng Ke EME5603 Introduction to Systematic Instructional Design course at Florida State University. This was an individual class project to create an instructional unit that we would gather formative and assessment data for and make revisions.

CONDITIONS: I created this project on my own. My target audience was for college students and my goal was to teach the MLA citation style. I had no budget, nor were funds needed. I created the instructional materials on my own, and collected other established resources attributing credit when needed. I had 12 learners take the 1 hr lesson. 6 before revision and 6 after. I felt the final unit was more effective with feedback.

SCOPE: This eBook was created for educational usage. It is my desire to take components from this instructional unit and either create a Canvas course LMS modules lesson or even an interactive tutorial.

ROLE: I worked in several roles for this project, as designer, developer, analyst, and evaluator.

EVALUATION  AND RESEARCH SKILLS

Information Literacy Video Tutorials

Summer 2019

COMPETENCIES: This project demonstrates my ability to collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders as well as to use appropriate tools to communicate with learners.

CONTEXT: These information literacy video tutorials were created in Summer 2019 per request of the chair of the English Department at Tallahassee Community College. I transitioned the face to face lesson I provided and chunked it into 5 videos (3 are featured here).

CONDITIONS: The Faculty wanted our face to face lesson online. I met with TCC Online and partnered with staff to create my video tutorial in Camtasia. I modified my lesson to be more appropriate for online learning.

SCOPE: These video tutorials are still utilized, with the exception of 2 database videos (not featured), because the database changed and new screensharing is necessary. I would also like to brand these videos and get buy-in from the other Librarians to use more broadly to educate information literacy. No money was spent, but TCC Online did have a Camtasia license I was able to use in office.

ROLE: I served as manager and developer for this project. TCC Online spent more time with Camtasia and the design / screen sharing, but utilized the content I developed.

Library of Congress Classification Mobile App

Spring 2019

TECHNOLOGY & MEDIA SKILLS

COMPETENCIES: This project demonstrates my ability to analyze performance and learning problems to recommend appropriate solutions, analyze the characteristics of existing and emerging technology, develop e-learning content, as well as selecting an appropriate technology for a specific outcome.

CONTEXT: I created this prototype for a Library of Congress Classification Mobile App in Spring 2019 per requirement in Dr. Yasin Yalcin's EME5077 Mobile Learning class.

CONDITIONS: We were required to develop a proposal for a mobile app, by analyzing a need, and proposing a solution that a mobile app could help solve.

SCOPE: This mobile app was designed to both help train Library employees in collections access to learn the collection as well as average patrons interested. It is intended to be interactive, engaging and entertaining. Due to lack of resources, finances, and buy in, this project has not gone past prototyping in this classroom.

ROLE: I served as analyst and designer in this role.

ANALYSIS SKILLS

Research Study F2F v. Online Info Lit in Community College Students Web Eval Skills

Summer 2019

EVALUATION  AND RESEARCH SKILLS

ANALYSIS SKILLS

COMPETENCIES: This project demonstrates my ability to apply appropriate qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, construct & reliable data collection tools, and collect, analyze, and summarize data. Additionally, to use appropriate data collection methods and tools to conduct analyes, and communicate effectively in written, oral, and visual formats.

CONTEXT: This research study was developed in Summer 2019 for my EDF5481 Methods of Educational Research course with Dr. Roehrig. The topic focus is face to face vs. online information literacy instruction effects on community college web skills.

CONDITIONS: We were required to select a research question that we could develop a research study out of hypotheses, methodology, quantiative / qualitative analyses, etc.

SCOPE: This research study is the first fully developed and evaluated topic I have selected so far, and one I am debating committing to once I start my doctoral program. Per most studies I have examine, info lit data exists for more university students as opposed to community college students, so I am curious to see the results of an info lit intervention.

ROLE: I served as analyst for this project.

CONTEXT: For my EDF5942 Field Lab Internship I am working with TCC Online in Spring 2020 to build a Blueprint course for SPC2608 Public Speaking with Faculty, Instructional designers, and administration.

CONDITIONS: The only conditions were that this course move forward at an agreed and signed upon timeline and that Quality Matters standards are applied to the course, and regular updates provied to administration as well as hard deadlines met. The Facult also requested that her condition be that the course content come from McGraw Hill Connect.

SCOPE: This course is designed for online Public Speaking students at Tallahassee Community College taking SPC2608, and will be reviewed according to Quality Matters standards, and is designed with the expectation that all Speech Faculty teaching online will inherit the course.
